Update: Sun 20 June

A “pop-up” vaccination clinic against Covid-19 is being tested at Broughton Shopping Park today, Sunday, June 20, using a new mobile unit.

The Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) said it will not take bookings for the pop-up clinic, but will offer the Pfizer vaccine on a first-come, first-served basis.

“This is to encourage adherence among people who have not yet been able to attend an appointment in one of our vaccination centers.

If the trial is successful, the board of health says it will look to create more pop-up clinics in high-traffic areas.

The health board says the delta variant is spreading much faster among people who have not been vaccinated and now accounts for more than 90% of new positive coronavirus cases in North Wales.

“Getting full protection from both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine is the best way to protect yourself and your loved ones. “

“The risk of hospitalization for the delta variant decreases by approximately 70%, 28 days after receiving a second dose.”

The BCUHB has urged people between the ages of 18 and 39 to come forward for their first dose with currently lower absorption than other categories in the region.

Gill Harris, Executive Director of Nursing and Midwifery at BCUHB, said: “We continue to make good progress, with 85% of eligible adults vaccinated with a first dose and 55% receiving both doses.

“This includes at least 80% participation among all groups over 40.

“We are currently targeting 30-39 year olds (currently 59% use) and 18-29 year olds (currently 68% use) and we continue to use various communications to encourage our young citizens to adopt vaccine offerings.

“We’ve come this far, so quickly, but how quickly we can all get back to normal life might depend on how quickly we vaccinate the rest of the people in these younger age groups.”

You can make an appointment to get the vaccine on the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board website. https://bcuhb.nhs.wales/covid-19/covid-19-vaccination-information/covid-19-vaccination-online-booking/
