Alpine Holidays will be Nov. 11-12 at Columbus Catholic Schools


MARSHFIELD, Wis. (WSAW) – The public is invited to Catholic schools in Columbus on Friday and Saturday for the alpine vacation.

The two-day event features numerous events and is open to the public.

Angela Loucks, director of donations and communications, said admission was free outside of Saturday entertainment. You don’t have to be Catholic to attend.

Alpine Holiday is the premier community fundraising event for Catholic schools in Columbus. Highlights include Friday Night Fish Fry, Craft Boutique with over 55 vendors, Kiddie Games, Saturday Night Pulled Pork Sandwich Dinner, Ugly Sweater 5K Fun Run/Walk, Silent Auction, Kids Raffle and plenty of entertainment throughout the week. two day event. Boogie and the Yo-Yo’z will perform on Friday night and a Comedy Show will take place on Saturday night.

Friday Fish Fry – November 11, 4-7pm

Saturday Pulled Pork Sandwich Supper – November 12, 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The Friday Night Fish Fry will include a homemade German potato salad that will get your weekend started. Enjoy fresh fried cheese curds, rolling tacos, burgers and more at Snowflake Café, open all weekend. Saturday morning is the Pancake Brunch with the help of the CCS Choral Department. Back for a second year, the delicious pulled pork sandwich dinner. The volunteers will start smoking the pork lively and early. The Horsin’ Around dessert cart and ice cream stand will be open all weekend.

Alpine Holiday begins with Foxfire Affair, a rhythmic duo serving Celtic, maritime and alternative folk music. Next, Richie Yurkovich and the duo Polkarioty will play lots of polka tunes. Spectators can grab a bite to eat at Friday Fish Fry or Snowflake Café and enjoy the Beer Garden while watching the shows. Next, Boogie and the Yo-Yo’z.

Start your Saturday with the fun Ugly Sweater 5K Run/Walk and receive a Saturday Pancake Breakfast ticket and a free fanny pack! There will be a children’s race and medals will be awarded to the top three male and female participants. There is still time to register! Our HeBrews cafe, which is run by our college student council members, will be open and serving coffee and donuts.

Throughout the day we will have live performances from local organizations such as Christ Lutheran Church Puppets, Main Street Conservatory of Dance (including a Nutcracker preview), Reis Martial Arts, CCHS Jazz Band and the ever-popular Columbus Lip Sync Competition. We wrap up Saturday’s entertainment with the dancers from the Sound-A-Motion country line showcasing their dance moves. You’ll even have the chance to learn some basic line dancing techniques! We’re thrilled to bring JK’s Latin Vibe Trio to Alpine this year. From the Caribbean to Calypso, this group of steel drums will have your heads and feet moving. Then we closed the auditorium to get ready for Comedy Show. There’s still plenty to do while we get ready – shopping, kids games and our pulled pork sandwich dinner – so if you have tickets to see the comedy show, stick around!

Comedians Arvin Mitchell and Tyler Boeh will entertain the crowd with their wit and humor. Tickets are still available. The comedy show is suitable for children over 16, as both performers are Dry Bar comedians, which means there’s no bad language or bawdy jokes. After the Comedy Show The Breakfast Club, a totally 80s pop group will perform.

There will also be over 55 vendors. They will be in the classrooms and in the hallways. Columbus clothing will also be available in the Spiritwear room. A silent auction will be held in the gymnasium. This year it will be a hybrid – meaning some items will be auctioned on paper/pen at the event only and other items will be online only. Online auctions will start on Tuesday and end on Saturday.

Kiddie Games will take place all weekend; and our children’s raffle table features many amazing toys donated by our families. Kids can try their luck at the spinning wheel and win fun prizes!

24 Days of Christmas Calendar Raffle

Each year our biggest fundraiser for Alpine Holiday is our raffle. This year’s grand prize will be $10,000 in cash awarded November 12 at 7:30 p.m. just before the comedy show. Then there are 23 more chances to win gift certificates and cash from November 14 to December 19. Each winner gets their ticket in the draw and only 3,000 tickets were printed.
