Annual photo contest seeking entries

Nodaway’s Ninth Annual News Leader Photo Contest will be accepting entries through Friday, June 17.

“We welcome entries of all ages and images from a variety of topics,” said Kay Wilson, editor-owner of NNL.

The deadline for submitting applications is Friday, June 17 at 5 p.m. The NNL requests an 8×10 photograph and a digital copy on a thumb drive or by email to [email protected] There are still five categories this year: people, places, nature, black and white and digital enhancement. There are two categories of submission by age: 18 and over and 17 and under. Each participant is limited to one photo per category.

The NNL team reminds photographers that photos should not be enhanced or altered digitally or otherwise, except for the digital enhancement category. Additionally, it is requested that the prints not be matted or framed. One hard copy and one digital copy of each submission are requested.

Prizes will be awarded. First place in each division and category will receive $20, with second and third place receiving certificates. The Nodaway News Leader grand prize winner will receive $100. Winners will be announced at the NNL’s annual Nodaway County Fair with the winning photographs displayed in the newspaper window during the fair. All entrants grant the NNL the right to use their photographs in future advertisements, displays, posts and social media.
