Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has stressed the importance of winning team awards before individual awards.
The Blues midfielder has had an incredibly successful 2021, winning the Champions League and European Super Cup with Chelsea, as well as Euro 2020 with Italy.
Individually, the 29-year-old has also won the 2021 UEFA Male Player of the Year award and is on the list of the 30 shortlisted for the 2021 Ballon d’Or.
Speaking to The Telegraph, Jorginho explained how he places team prizes ahead of individual prizes.
“Without the team, the individual trophies wouldn’t come. So how do you put the individual in front of the team?
“I can’t because without the team it wouldn’t be possible, never, never that would happen. So the team prizes are more important, of course.”
The Blues midfielder also spoke about how manager Thomas Tuchel had helped him in his development as a player.
“I think he’s a big part of it because from day one he believed in me and he trusted me, so I really appreciate what he has done for me.
“Right off the bat, there was a connection with him and his team. I could figure out what he wanted, you get it and you can go.
“So I think that was the important part, not a specific time.”
