Local nonprofit businesses hold pet costume contest

October 21 — HIGH POINT – Visit High Point, High Point Grooming and Northwood Animal Hospital are hosting a Spooktacular Pets of the Triad Costume Contest, which runs on Facebook until midnight on Monday, October 25th.

Like last year, the event takes place virtually on Facebook and is about more than just dogs, according to Nancy Bowman, director of sales and marketing at Visit High Point.

“Last year the community showed interest in including cats once the contest had already started, so we made sure to open the entry for pets in general this time around,” Bowman said.

All interested parties are encouraged to message Visit High Point with a photo of their costumed pet for a chance to win first, second or third place prizes. The winner with the most votes will be announced at noon on Friday, October 29.

Northwood Animal Hospital donates gift baskets to the top three winners.

High Point Grooming, which opened on October 12 at 1620 Eastchester Drive in High Point, offers free grooming services to the top winners.

Photos with pets visiting a pet-friendly High Point attraction will automatically earn additional votes, with the corresponding vote from Visit High Point, Bowman said.

“We know that 46% of pet owners travel with their pets, and this is a great opportunity for us to capture photos of pets enjoying our pet attractions for use in marketing materials. “said Bowman. “In addition, by opening the competition to the Triad region, we hope to encourage more visits to our neighboring towns. “

The community is invited to vote for their favorite pet by visiting the Visit High Point Facebook page and clicking on the Spooktacular Pets of the Triad costume contest photo album, which will be pinned to the top of the page until Monday. . Participants and voters are encouraged to share the photo album with their Facebook friends to get more votes.
