Baton Rouge, Louisiana. – The 2021 LSU soccer schedule has been officially released and will feature 17 regular season games for the Tigers, including a total of seven games in Baton Rouge.
Tigers to enter second year under the direction of head coach Sian hudson. Under his leadership the first year, LSU amassed an 8-8-3 record, including wins in six of its last eight games to close the season. LSU is dismissing a large majority of the 2020-21 squad which has grown stronger throughout the season, and the Tigers have also added several key items to the roster through the transfer portal.
The season will begin with three exhibitions, two of which will be held in Baton Rouge. LSU will host ULM (August 7) and Southeast Louisiana (August 11) at LSU Soccer Stadium before playing their final friendly of the preseason on August 14 against Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches, Texas.
LSU’s first seven games of the season will feature some non-conference action before the Tigers enter their 10-game conference schedule in the SEC. The season will open with back-to-back home games on August 19 and 22, as the Tigers welcome Southern Miss and Sam Houston State to Baton Rouge. A five-game road swing will follow with competitions in South Florida (August 26), Troy (August 29), Arizona State (September 2), Arizona (September 5) and ULL (September 9). The September 5 game against Arizona will be played at a neutral venue in Tempe, Ariz.
The Tigers open the conference game with a pair of enemies from Mississippi. Mississippi State will come to Baton Rouge on September 17 for the first home conference game of the year; the other SEC home contests are against Georgia (September 26), Texas A&M (October 7), South Carolina (October 21) and Arkansas (October 28).
The first road conference game of the year will be against Ole Miss on September 23 in Oxford, Mississippi. The other four conference games on the road are against Alabama (October 1), Auburn (October 10), Kentucky (October 14) and Florida (October 24).
The SEC tournament will start on October 31st with the first round and will run until Sunday November 7th. The first round of the NCAA tournament is scheduled for the weekend of 12-14.
