Jersey exchange: Carlos de Pena
Dynamo Kyiv had his chances, and they put Manuel Neuer to work tonight. One of Dynamo’s most dangerous players was Carlos de Pena – who had a very good chance in the first half. Dynamo attacked Bayern on the counterattack, and Pena recovered the ball and fired a shot, but Manuel Neuer brilliantly saved it. On top of that, the Dynamo Kyiv were a tough cookie to break, at least in the first half.
Der Kaiser: Manuel Neuer
The Bayern Munich captain played another brilliant game and got another clean sheet. The German had a surprisingly active evening. Dynamo Kyiv didn’t particularly have chances, but every time they attacked and attempted to score Manuel Neuer was there with either a brilliant save or a confident catch. He also did a few of his signature runs, and he timed each one perfectly. Neuer finished tonight’s game with two saves and 88% successful passes. Another great game for the Bayern Munich captain!
Fußballgott: Thomas Müller
The Bayern living legend got off to a slow start in tonight’s game. He struggled at first but as the game progressed he improved. He made two assists tonight, one for Lewandowski and another for Leroy Sane. Thomas Muller was very active on the whole field, and it was always so captivating. It’s amazing how he manages to maintain this level of Raumdeutering every game. His assists were also impressive tonight, as he had 88% successful passes with five key assists.
The Bomber: Robert Lewandowski
Another superb performance from the Polish striker! For most of the game, he had little space. But when he found space, he used it perfectly. He opened the scoring for Bayern with another perfectly executed penalty – he’s only missed six penalties in his entire career! After that, in the 27th minute, he scored after a brilliant assist from Thomas Muller. He also often drifted to the sides of the pitch and with that open space for his teammates. Lewandowski also often created chances for his teammates and had three key passes. Lewa really put on the show.
Master of the match: Leroy Sane
What a match for Sane! It is one of the best performances he has had in the Bayern jersey. At the start of the game, and even until the best part of the second half, he created chances, but just lacked a bit of luck to score the goal. But he finally managed to help in the 68th minute, after placing a timed pass to Serge Gnabry, who smashed the ball into the net. After just six minutes he scored a brilliant goal, but was that intentional? I’m not sure, but it was really beautiful. He was very active in defense and backed away almost every time the Dynamo attacked. Leroy also had an impressive 93% passing accuracy. It was great to hear the crowd cheering for Sane after booing him a few weeks ago.
