Identical twins enrolled in the same medical assistant program received the same scholarship.
Angelica and Veronica D’Amico received the Butch Hulings Memorial Scholarship.
Monica Morgan, the founder of the exchange, said she was looking for a way to honor her father, who was a trader after serving in the U.S. Navy. The goal of the scholarship, she said, then became “Like-minded students”.
This is the second year that the awards have been presented to two students from Tidioute Community Charter School who are considering attending a trade or technical school.
“There are many college scholarships, but not so many dedicated only to trade schools,” Morgan said, “So I wanted to give an advantage to business or technical school students. “
She explained that the application process is straightforward – an application with a letter of acceptance from the school the student will attend. Applications must be submitted before April 30 of each year.
“The family has a scoring system to ‘mark’ applications so that it is completely fair to all applicants. “ she explained. “Some of my family live in Tidioute, so we may know some of the nominees, and we wanted a way to ensure fairness in choosing the winners.”
