A LATE AUTUMN AFTERNOON wine tour and A Lake Forest shopping spree is the perfect way to take advantage of the cool fall temperatures, tackle some early-season entertainment and gift shopping, and donate to a great local cause, the Allendale Shelter Club.

“For decades Allendale Shelter Club ran a boutique in November and more recently we’ve hosted wine-related events,” says Keri Cook Falls, Co-Chair of Hope for the Holidays 2021. “This year we decided to combine both, by creating an event where our guests can shop for Christmas gifts and buy wine at the same time. “

The Allendale Association is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to excellence and innovation in the care, treatment, education and advocacy of families, children and youth with serious health problems. emotional, mental and behavioral health. Based in Lake Villa, Allendale has provided excellence and innovation in special education, child protection and mental health services to families and children for over 120 years.

Allendale is more than a refuge from a life of crisis, trauma and neglect. He empowers each child he serves to transcend their situation with positive support and consistent, ongoing guidance. Allendale offers kids the transformative experience of just being kids – the chance to make friends, play, explore, have an adventure, create their own happy childhood memories. “We believe everyone deserves a healthy childhood, a caring family, and a chance to learn, grow and change course,” said Jason Keeler, President and CEO of the Allendale Association. “Allendale is a place where children have the opportunity to take charge of their lives and discover a better future. “

The Allendale Shelter Club is one of the Allendale Association’s primary fundraising organizations. Founded in 1906 by 16 women, the Shelter Club now numbers over 60 women, contributing over $ 13 million over the years. In addition to providing much-needed funding through events such as Hope for the Holidays, the Allendale Shelter Club is proud to offer ‘motherly touches’ to the lives of children in Allendale’s care with personalized birthday gifts, a Christmas party with freebies, graduation celebrations, career advice and a “School’s Out!” »Spring Carnival on the Lake Villa campus. “Allendale believes in every child until they can believe in themselves,” says Hope for the Holidays co-chair Ester Viti.
