“For decades Allendale Shelter Club ran a boutique in November and more recently we’ve hosted wine-related events,” says Keri Cook Falls, Co-Chair of Hope for the Holidays 2021. “This year we decided to combine both, by creating an event where our guests can shop for Christmas gifts and buy wine at the same time. “
The Allendale Association is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to excellence and innovation in the care, treatment, education and advocacy of families, children and youth with serious health problems. emotional, mental and behavioral health. Based in Lake Villa, Allendale has provided excellence and innovation in special education, child protection and mental health services to families and children for over 120 years.

The Allendale Shelter Club is one of the Allendale Association’s primary fundraising organizations. Founded in 1906 by 16 women, the Shelter Club now numbers over 60 women, contributing over $ 13 million over the years. In addition to providing much-needed funding through events such as Hope for the Holidays, the Allendale Shelter Club is proud to offer ‘motherly touches’ to the lives of children in Allendale’s care with personalized birthday gifts, a Christmas party with freebies, graduation celebrations, career advice and a “School’s Out!” »Spring Carnival on the Lake Villa campus. “Allendale believes in every child until they can believe in themselves,” says Hope for the Holidays co-chair Ester Viti.
Join Allendale on Saturday, November 6, 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., on and around the Marketplace in Lake Forest. Buy for a cause while tasting fabulous wines and listening to live music from Doug Falls and Louie Zagoras. Don’t forget to participate in the Hope for the Holidays raffle for a chance to win a coveted magnum of Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2006. Wine tastings at participating stores, such as Kenzy, Lillie Alexander, Valentina, M on the Square , Smiths Men’s Store and Lake Forest Book Store, will be curated by Chip Harkleroad of Courtyard Wines and staffed by wine experts.
All wines can be purchased on site from Courtyard Wines via QR codes at each tasting table, with 10% of sales going to the Allendale association. In addition, all participating stores will donate 10% of the evening’s sales to Allendale.
