The Latin American Alliance has announced the winners of the 2021 Spanish Literature Competition.

The Lancaster organization encourages local high school and college students to share their original creative writing every year. This year’s theme is “The Family”.

The Latin American Alliance honored the winners at the awards ceremony held in Manheim Township Park on May 22. The winner received the prize.

The winners are:

Poetry-Spanish Level I and II

First place: Melodyfa, Kokariko High School.

The second place: Jordan Stockton, Kokariko High School.

Third place: Page Travis at Conestuga Valley High School.

Poetry-Spanish Level III

First place: Marigraupera, JP McCaski High School.

The second place: Katie Ganderson, Ancre Christian Academy.

Third place: Daniele Lerner, McCaski High School.

Honorable mention: Daisy Wickenheiser, Columbia High School, Elizabeth Meyer, Anchor Christian Academy.

Poetry-Spanish Level IV

First place: George Fenimore, McCaski High School.

The second place: Adil Amanulla, McCaski High School.

Third place: Saharai Mena from McCaski High School and Ivanado Hati from Lancaster Mennonite High School.

Short stories – Spanish level V and above

First place: Natalie Cru Sparilla, Franklin & Marischal College.

The second place: Eloise Warfel, high school in the canton of Manheim.

Third place: Grace Bosley, Franklin & Marischal College.

Honorable mention: Anchor Christian Academy, Sophie Prechner, Franklin & Marischal College, Joshua Reinford, Lancaster Mennonite High School.
