Wabash drops out of contest 7-4 in Hannover


Wabash lost 7-4 to state foes Hanover on Sunday afternoon at Fischer Field.

Host Little Giants (3-0) scored two goals from Caulin Fitzgerald as well as objectives of Ethan Stonis and Joseph Plencner. Plencner and Artie Rogers also recorded assists for Wabash.

Goalkeeper Matthew Hendrick made 11 saves for Wabash in the contest. Luka DiFilippo won 12 of the 15 face-offs in the contest.

Hannover (3-1) scored the first two goals before Plencner netted his goal in the second period. Fitzgerald scored one of two man goals for the Little Giants to make it 3-2 after Hanover scored late in the second period to take a 3-1 halftime lead. Wabash went 1 for 5 in man situations but ruled out Hannover on his five extra chances.

Stonis scored with the Little Giants against a man on one of the Panthers’ extra tries. Fitzgerald scored midway through the final period to make it 5-4 until Hanover scored two more goals to claim the victory by three points.

Wabash plays Adrian College at home at Fischer Field on Saturday, March 19 at 2 p.m.
