World of Warcraft players tired of being bombarded with chat messages advertising different services or opportunities will be happy to hear that a new feature has been implemented to hopefully reduce that clutter. Blizzard announced this week that Update 9.2.7 introduced a new chat channel called “Trade (Services)” where we’ll see things like organizing raids and dungeons as well as other chat-related messages. services. For those who do not take note of this channel and continue to advertise their related activities and services outside of it, Blizzard has stated that it will take action accordingly.
If this feature sounds familiar to you, it might be because you first saw it announced back in July whenever it was initially heading to the game’s test servers for players to try out. . Blizzard said at the time that the goal of this chat feature was “to keep commerce chat for the traditional buying and selling of items and professions, not other conversations,” and the latest announcement stating that the feature was included in the 9.2.7 update echoes those sentiments.
“This week, Update 9.2.7 introduces the new chat channel: Commerce (Services)” World of Warcraft said community manager Linxy in the forum post discussing the new feature. “The Commerce (Services) chat channel is used to research and advertise services such as raids, dungeons, or PvP activities, keeping the original Commerce chat channel available for traditional buying and selling of objects and professional services.”
And again, for those who don’t keep their messages relegated to the proper channel and instead use normal chat with the same types of messages that should go elsewhere, Blizzard said it will treat such offensive messages as spam.
“With the separation of commercial services into its own chat channel, a new policy will take place,” the message continues. “Any boosting, transport or other similar services offered for gold that is advertised outside of the Trade (Services) chat channel will be considered spam and appropriate action will be taken, so be sure to toggle your service adverts to the new chat channel when it becomes available after regional maintenance this week.”
Expect to see this new feature available after updating your game to 9.2.7 to see if it succeeds in cleaning up chat as expected.
